What is Get Tech Certified?

Get Tech Certified is an opportunity for anyone in the public sector to advance their digital skills. Launched by the Government Digital Service, it follows the success of last year’s Get Cloud Certified training campaign.

From 1 October 2025 to 31 December 2025, all civil and public servants can access over 200 free learning and certification pathways across digital and technology areas including:

  • Cloud & Platforms technology
  • Machine learning Engineering & AI
  • Data
  • Software Engineering
  • Security
  • Quantum
  • FinOps

These range from introductory courses to advanced qualifications, and short to full courses.

The offer is made possible through partnerships with 16 leading technology training providers, and is completely free to access.

Who is it for?

This programme is open to:

  • anyone curious about digital and tech skills
  • Government Digital and Data professionals
  • public sector colleagues working alongside digital teams.

Whether you’re looking to build confidence, deepen your expertise, or explore a new direction in digital and data, Get Tech Certified is designed to support your development.

Real stories, real impact

“One of the most rewarding milestones in my journey of working in digital was completing the AWS Cloud Practitioner qualification under the Get Cloud Certified programme. This deepened my understanding of cloud computing principles and gave me the confidence to explore more advanced cloud technologies and their practical applications in the workplace.”

Hi Martin, I work at Red Hat and I strongly recommend learning the basics for using Hashicorp solution.

Pity I cannot participate to this training initiative.

Wish you and your team mates a successful experience.

Hi, I don't see the courses from RedHat in the list of courses? They were the ones I was most interested in.

Can you please clarify if the date of 31 December 2025 is an end point to register for learning, or do you need to have completed your learning before 31 December 2025?

Hi Jon, you can continue any learning beyond 31st December, however, if your chosen learning path warrants a certification, you will need to apply for your free certification voucher prior to 31st December in order to get it free as part of this initiative, hope that helps

    Hi Martin,
If I register for Microsoft/AWS/Google learning via my work email, can you confirm whether I’d be guaranteed a certification voucher upon completion, or are these allocated on a limited or first-come basis?

Hi Olivia, thanks for reaching out, and well done for taking advantage of so much of this learning. I'm highly confident that if you apply for a certification voucher from the 3 vendors you've chosen before the 31st December then you'll be allocated a free certification voucher. However, please don't delay, apply for a voucher as sooner rather than later.

Hi, this is a great initiative. However, I can't find any reference to obtaining vouchers on any of the materials. Looking to book a certification exam, but I need to pay. Assuming I must be able to obtain a voucher code for this?

Do these courses need to be taken and completed before 31st December 2025 or are we able to enrol and undertake them when convenient, at a later date?

      Comment by Martin posted on

      Hi Patrick,
All exam vouchers will need to be applied for before the end of the year, however, some of the vendors issue vouchers with a redemption period going into 2026 (AWS for example have approx. 4 months from issue date)
While other vendors require the learning and exam to be concluded by 31st December. Apologies for being vague, it depends which learning/vendor you've chosen.
happy to be more concise if you want to reach me at gettechcertified@dsit.gov.uk with the vendor.course you're interested in.
      thanks

      Hi Liam,
In the majority of cases you'll need to sign-up to an AWS Skill Builder account (top option) unless your department has an agreement with AWS and has the SSO sign-in agreement, More often than not, Skill Builder apples

    Hi,
Is it possible to look into any JIRA (Atlassian) certification courses? Although the Atlassian University online provides free training, I would love to see if there is a professional certification that we could get at the end to recognise the learning. I know that some training providers offer this.
    Kindest regards,
    Keith
